This is one of those easy recipes you’ll turn back to over and over again. This naturally sweet barbecue sauce can be made with fresh or frozen peaches and it adds a ton of flavor to tender pork chops. Make the sauce ahead and the pork chops only take about 15 minutes on the grill—which means dinner is served in no time at all.

The Best Barbecue Pork Chops Of Your Life

Looking for a simple and tasty way to prepare pork chops for your next BBQ? Look no further! This recipe requires minimal ingredients and effort, but yields mouth-watering results. A sweet peach barbecue sauce is slathered over tender and juicy pork chops cooked on the grill.

Push your favorite barbecue sauce aside because a new one is about to enter the fold. Naturally sweet peaches are the base for the sauce that coats pork chops as they cook on the grill. This recipe makes more than you’ll need for four pork chops which means you can save the rest to use as a dipping sauce or on chicken.

You don’t have to save this recipe for when fresh peaches are in season, frozen peaches will still make an amazing sauce. If you have a few extra peaches, try slicing them and cooking them with pork chops on a sheet pan.

Making your own barbecue sauce takes way less time than you might think it does. All you have to do is saute some aromatics, add your seasonings, and let it simmer until the peaches soften. Voila! A perfect sauce for marinades and summertime meals. This barbecue sauce uses both peaches and peach jam to add a little more sweetness to the sauce. If your peaches aren’t very sweet, add a little brown sugar to the mixture.

What I love about this recipe is how the sweet flavor of the peaches adds to the smokiness of a charcoal grill (if you’re using). It’s a delightful blend of different flavors that just screams summertime. Grilled Pork chops are super tender and juicy, but pairing it with tangy BBQ sauce is always the right move.

If you want a sweeter flavored pork chop in a skillet, try making some honey glazed pork chops with pecans.

I like to serve these alongside roasted asparagus or green beans and potatoes, and creamy mac and cheese. This is a summer spread sure to please the whole family!

The secret to tender and juicy pork chops

Just two simple steps will guarantee that your pork chops are tender and juicy every time:

    1. Marinate pork chops overnight in buttermilk
    2. Remove form the heat when they have reached 135º-140º at the thickest part – they will continue to cook off the heat tented with aluminum foil.

What Makes A Great Weeknight Dinner

    • Easy Meal – We’ve all been there, you’re running around getting work and errands done and dinner needs to be on the table soon. This recipe takes just 15 minutes to make if you prep the barbecue sauce ahead of time. Keep a batch in the freezer and you’ll have dinner ready in no time.
    • Delicious Recipe – Quick and easy, there’s no need to reach for a frozen pizza when something this tasty is in your back pocket.
    • Pantry Staples – With onion, garlic, dried spices, and ketchup as the base of the barbecue sauce, this recipe only needs a couple more ingredients to pull together a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients For Peach Barbecue Sauce and Juicy Pork Chops

The ingredients for peach bbq sauce.
    Gather the ingredients

    For The Pork Chops

Meat – You’ll need four bone-in thick-cut pork chops that are at least one inch thick. Bone-in chops will have more flavor than boneless, but boneless will certainly work with this sauce.
Buttermilk – Buttermilk helps break down muscle tissues leading to a juicier pork chop.

    For The Peach Barbecue Sauce

Liquids – You’ll need olive oil, apple cider vinegar, peach jam, and ketchup.

Produce – Diced onion, minced garlic, and fresh or thawed frozen peaches. Fresh peaches tend to be sweeter than frozen but both will make a great bbq sauce.

Spices – Dried ginger as well as salt and black pepper to taste.

How To Make Grilled Pork Chops With Homemade Peach Barbecue Sauce

    Step One: Prep

Place pork chops in a ziplock bag or airtight container and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate overnight or for at least 2 hours. If using frozen peaches, let them thaw completely before starting.

    Step Two: Make Sauce

You can do this days in advance. Add oil to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add chopped onions and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add ketchup, peach jam, and chopped peaches. Cook over low heat for about 30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally. If the peaches are still firm, mash them with a potato masher and simmer until they have softened.

Add vinegar, ginger, salt, and pepper to taste.

    Step Three: Rinse Chops

Rinse pork chops and pat dry. Let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Salt and pepper on both sides. Take some of the peach sauce and set it aside in a small bowl for serving along with the pork chops at the table.

Season the pork chops with salt and pepper.

    Step Four: Grill Pork Chops

Heat a grill to medium-high or about 350º to 400º. Brush both sides of the pork chops with the homemade sauce and place on the grill. Cook for 6 minutes, basting periodically. Turn and cook an additional 6 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 135º at the thickest part.

Two pork chops resting after being grilled.
Grill until it reaches 135º then let rest.

    Step Five: Serve

Remove from the heat and tent with aluminum foil for 5 minutes to complete cooking. Serve with additional peach sauce.

Can I Make These With Boneless Pork Chops?

Absolutely! You can use boneless chops, pork tenderloin, chicken breasts, or chicken thighs! This peach barbecue sauce is super versatile and goes well with lots of different cuts of meat. You could even make this in a cast iron skillet on the stove or the oven if you prefer. Use the cooking instructions from apple stuffed pork chops if cooking in a skillet instead of the grill.

    A Few Recipe Notes

    • Always use an instant-read thermometer to ensure your meat is cooked to the correct temperature.
    • Marinating the pork chops in buttermilk will make them even more tender.
    • Let the pork chops come to room temperature before cooking, about 30 minutes.
    • For best results, let your meat finish cooking through indirect heat like the aluminum foil tent mentioned above!
    • Make the sauce in advance for easier weeknight dinners.

    How to Store Barbecue Sauce

In The Fridge: Let the barbecue sauce cool completely before storing in an airtight container or jar. Barbecue sauce can last for over a week if stored properly in the fridge. You can also freeze it to have on hand at any time.
