A Pinterest Fail, Snickerdoodles just don’t need chocolate chips.
Natalie is always telling me that I should write about all my “Pinterest fails”. You know the recipes that don’t look anything like the pictures or don’t taste near as good as the writer has claimed it will taste. Trust me when I say that I make tons of things that don’t turn out as expected. Sometimes the recipe is still great and other times it needs tweeking, and other times, I just throw it out and order pizza. So this week, I’m sharing my first “Pinterest Fail”, Chocolate Chip Snickerdoodles.
I thought Natalie might need some cookies to make it through finals, so I saw a delicious looking post about snickerdoodles with chocolate chips. The chocolate chips were goey making a mouthwatering photograph that I couldn’t pass up.
They smelled great, while cooking, but I’m trying to watch my sugar intake, so I just put them in the freezer and mailed them off without tasting them. Taylor came through town and I gave her a few to try. She ate one frozen and said it was ok. However, when Natalie called me to give me her review, her comment was that she didn’t like them. It wasn’t that they were bad, but she just didn’t think snickerdoodles needed chocolate. They are too good just plain.
So while the recipe worked and my photographs, while not dripping with chocolate, turned out ok, we have decided that more is not always better. And while we love chocolate, our recommendation is when it comes to snickerdoodles stick to the original version or maybe add white chocolate pretzels.
