High Cotton – Greenville SC

High Cotton outside

Last sumer while in Greenville I took a cooking class at Charleston Cook’s which is affiliated with this restaurant. After taking the class, I couldn’t wait to try it out.  It met all my expectations. The space is beautiful with high glass windows looking out on to the Reedy River.  We went early and it was pretty empty but filled up before we left.  Our waitress had great suggestions and explained how things were prepared.Duck at High Cotton

I started with the fried oysters which were awesome, I even got Natalie to try one. They were served on what was described as a green goddess dressing, it had a bite and was perfect with the oysters.  The steak was cooked at the desired temperature with different options for toppings, I thought the blue cheese topping was the best. However, I went with duck which was medallions and duck confit served with fingerling potatoes over a sweet potato puree.  We topped it off with turtle cheesecake.  As expected, the food was great, the view was picturesque and the service was wonderful  Put this on your list of restaurants to try when in Greenville.  It’s close to downtown, and right next to the river so you can walk off that cheesecake!
