Ingredients
1 8.8ozbrie round
3tablespoonsbutter
1Honeycrisp apple(cored and sliced into ½ inch slices)
¼cupbrown sugar
½teaspoonorange zest
¼cuporange juice
3tablespoonsbourbon

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350º.
Place brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a small oven proof baking dish and bake for 12 minutes until it is soft to the touch in the center. Remove to the serving dish.
While the brie is warming, cook the apples.
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add sliced apples and cook, flipping occasionally until lightly browned and starting to soften, about 5 minutes.
Add brown sugar, orange zest and orange juice and cook until the sugar melts, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add bourbon. Return to heat and cook for about 2-3 minutes until it is bubbly and starts to thicken.
Spoon apples over brie and top with toasted walnuts.
Barbara's Notes + Tips
Baking dish: Choose a baking dish that is slightly larger than the brie itself to allow room for the apples and nuts in case they fall off. This makes it easier to scoop the brie as well. If you don't want to cook it in the serving dish, place it on a baking sheet and use a spatula to move it to the serving dish.
Time: While the brie is baking in the oven, start cooking the apples to cut down on prep time.
Rind: If you want to cut the rind off, place the wheel of brie in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. Then, use a sharp knife to thinly slice along the top rind to remove it. You can leave the sides and bottom to help hold the melty cheese inside once it bakes.
