Ingredients
Butter Mixture
½cupsalted butter
1tablespoonDijon mustard
2teaspoonsWorcestershire sauce
1tablespoondried onion flakes((or 1 ½ teaspoon onion powder))
1tablespoonpoppy seeds
1tablespoonparsley(fresh, chopped)
Sandwiches
½poundHam(sliced thin)
¾lbSwiss cheese(about 8 slices)
¼cupgarlic aioli(divided)
12Hawaiian Dinner rolls(1 package)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400º. Spray a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
Use a serrated knife and cut the entire group of rolls in half, cutting horizontally so that you have two slabs of rolls. Place the bottom half in the casserole dish and bake for 5 minutes, until it just starts to turn brown.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter with mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dried onions, poppy seeds and parsley.
Spread a thin layer of aioli on the top of the toasted rolls. Next add a layer of cheese, a layer of ham and then another layer of cheese. Brush the bottom of the top layer of rolls with the rest of the aioli and place the top layer of rolls on top of the sandwiches.
Pour the butter mixture over the rolls, using a brush to spread it over the rolls and down the edges.
Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese has completely melted. If you want the tops crisp, remove the foil for the last 5 minutes. Let them cool for about 5 minutes so they can be eaten with your hands.
Barbara's Notes + Tips
Toasting the bottom layer of rolls before assembling helps prevent them from getting soggy once the butter mixture is added.
Use a brush to distribute the butter mixture over the sliders evenly. This makes sure every nook and cranny gets covered in that tangy flavor and that beautiful golden color.
If you like your sliders with a slightly crispy top, remove the foil for the last 5 minutes of baking; for sliders with soft tops, leave the foil on until you take them out of the oven.
