    Swamp Rabbit Trail

    Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville

I had one of the best runs while visiting my Freshman at Furman last weekend.  Greenville is blessed to have an amazing and well maintained running trail that goes from downtown all the way to Furman and beyond to Travelers Rest.  Part of it has a lane that is soft asphalt, but most is just asphalt meandering through the outskirts of the city.  Greenville has done a great job planting flowers and bushes and providing markers so that it’s easy to follow.  I’ve run a few short runs while visiting in the past, but this was the first opportunity I’ve had to do a long run.

It was exactly 7 miles from The Hampton Inn Suites on the river to the Bell Tower at Furman.  Since Ryan at Zap Fitness had a 14 mile run on my plan, it was perfect.  The trail is well used by bikes, dog walkers, and runners.  I’ve never been on it when I was alone. Everyone in Greenville seems friendly, so expect to receive a hello or at least a waive from others using the trail.  About 2 miles from the river is a little cafe called the Swamp Rabbit Cafe.  I haven’t stopped, but would love to hear what others have to say about it.  If you are in Greenville make sure you pack your running shoes because with all the great food, you’ll need the exercise!A bridge on the swamp rabbit trail
