    Wild Eggs – Lexington, KY

    Guest post by Natalie Curry

While visiting family in Lexington, Kentucky, we stumbled upon a fantastic breakfast and lunch café called Wild Eggs. We tried it on the last day of our trip and wished we had found it on the first day.  We didn’t know anything about it except that it was convenient to our hotel.  We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful and expansive breakfast menu.

It’s only open for breakfast and lunch but it is most definitely a breakfast spot- most of the menu is devoted to inventive and fun egg dishes. However, for those like myself who can’t stand eggs, there are many other classic and egg-less breakfast options including decadent pancakes, French toast and a cinnamon roll cooked in it’s own cast iron skillet.  My dad tried his favorite, eggs bennedict and they were not only cooked perfectly, but the sauce was inventive.  We also tried the grits-of-the day, which were flavored with sausage and jalepenos

Wild Eggs has options to suit every taste, including lighter fare like oatmeal for those who don’t want to ingest their entire caloric allotment for the day before noon. The décor of Wild Eggs is bright and inviting without being too loud- a must for a place that is open in the mornings. I am not a morning or a breakfast person, but after my amazing cinnamon roll at Wild Eggs I felt ready for a hectic day of traveling. We left Wild Eggs wishing for a location closer to home.  I would encourage anyone in the Lexington area to check out this delicious and fun breakfast joint.  They also have restaurants in Louisville and even in Denver.

So while we still love our Greensboro breakfast haunts, it was fun trying someplace new while traveling.
