Fruit Yogurt Dip is a simple dip but just what fresh strawberries need.  With only three ingredients it is effortless but the perfect addition to a Spring party.

I haven’t cooked anything new lately as we have been getting ready for our annual Kentucky Derby Party which we have been having for 23 years or so.  This is always a fun party because there is a theme and everyone bets a dollar so even the kids have a stake in the outcome.  Since we have been doing it so long, the only thing I have to do each year is tweak the menu.  Over the years it has changed substantially.  The first few years, my mother-in-law would send me a country ham for the biscuits and I would make burgoo like they do at Churchill Downs.  However, it’s normally warm here on the first Saturday in May and soup is not the food of choice.  Now, I try to only serve food that can easily be picked up and eaten with one hand, so people can graze and just pick up one thing here and there.  Plus if they are small you can try lots of things.  One exception is that we always have to have hot onion dip, per my family’s request which requires a chafing dish, but it’s worth it.

Strawberries are ripe here just in time for the party and I thought I would share the easiest party dip for these.  While chocolate is good with strawberries, it’s messy and once you spill chocolate on you, whether you’re 4 or 54, it just ruins your outfit.  This dip is easy and perfectly compliments the strawberries.  This time of year strawberries generally don’t need sugar so you just want something to show off their great taste; vanilla, honey and cinnamon are the perfect combination.  The rest of the things I serve take a little more time and effort so I like to have at least one or two things that are easy.
