Make your morning toast, fluffy dinner rolls, muffins or baked sweet potato a whole lot better with this cinnamon butter recipe. Striking the perfect balance between sweet and spicy cinnamon, this is almost a copycat recipe for Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Butter. This deliciously sweet butter recipe is made with simple ingredients and comes together in just a couple of minutes.

Insanely Good Cinnamon Sugar Butter
So simple to make, but fancy enough to serve for special occasions, my cinnamon butter takes your favorite foods to the next level. So good, you’ll want to put it on everything! This easy recipe is made with pantry staple ingredients so you don’t have to worry about running to the store for that last-minute ingredient.
The richness of the butter paired with the sweetness of sugar helps balance out the spicy cinnamon for a decadent addition. However, this isn’t super sweet like Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter so it’s more versatile. While I lightened this up, feel free to add more sugar if that’s what you’re feeling!
Since it’s not too sweet, it’s a fabulous topping for my favorite morning glory muffins. It’s a perfect addition to quick breads like banana bread, and strawberry bread. But is also fabulous as a topping for cream cheese biscuits, sweet potatoes, and sheet pan pancakes, the possibilities are endless. It’s even delicious on a piece of classic toast as a topping on French Toast, waffles or with some oatmeal scones or homemade oatmeal bread. The best part? Is that it’s made with real butter, always a win in my house.
But don’t stop there, taste-test it with all of your favorites, and let me know which combo is your favorite in the comments below!

The Best Thing About This Cinnamon Butter?
- Super Fast – By the time you pull out all the ingredients, you’re basically done!
- Easy To Make – Since it’s just one step, this recipe can be made in small increments or in a double batch so you always have some on hand.
- Good On Everything – You might think it stops at breakfast foods, but this is just as good on buttery dinner rolls and other savory items!
Ingredients For Cinnamon Sugar Butter

Butter – I recommend a whole stick of salted good quality butter, but feel free to use unsalted butter if that’s what you have on hand. You may want to add a pinch of salt to taste to the final product to balance out the sweetness, though! It will need to be softened to room temperature. If you forgot to pull it out of the fridge, here’s a quick kitchen hack to soften butter. Don’t microwave it, you won’t get the right consistency if it has melted.
Sugar – You can use regular granulated or powdered sugar for this recipe.
Cinnamon – The star of the show!
Super Simple to Make
Only one step:
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, cream the butter, sugar, and cinnamon together until fully incorporated and smooth. If you don’t have a mixer on hand, you can just stir it with a spoon but the mixer makes it creamier.

Substitutions For Tasty Compound Butter
- Swap the sugar for a little honey to make honey cinnamon butter!
- Use brown sugar instead of white sugar!
- Skip the sugar and cinnamon and go savory! Try adding roasted garlic, miso, or sriracha to your softened butter instead.

How to Store Butter
In The Fridge: Store your compound butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator and it’ll keep for days (or until you run out)! You can also make extra and freeze it.
Can Cinnamon Butter Be Left Out On The Counter?
This can be a controversial question! While it’ll definitely last longer in the fridge, you can leave this out on the counter for 1-2 days depending on the temperature of your house. I’m old school and have no problem leaving butter on the counter.

I have a question: Can you add canola oil to butter to keep it soft after being stored in the refrigerator? If yes, what would be the proportion? I’ve made before, but didn’t use oil and it’s hard to spread.
Barbara Curry says
I have never tried adding oil to butter. I just let it warm to room temperature before adding anything.
