Larkin’s on the River – Greenville SC

Ceasar Salad at Larkin's on the River - Greenville SC

If you have been to Greenville, and haven’t taken a walk or a run by the river, you are missing out.  Just a block down from Main Street are about 17 miles of beautifully groomed trails that follow the river in one direction and run out toward Furman in the other direction.  We decided we would try a restaurant that overlooked the river.  Now river might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s moving water so I think that counts.

Larkin’s on the River is right across from The Lazy Goat and looks out onto an old building that was being used for a wedding reception the night we went.  Right next door is an open  air amphitheater.  We sat outside under a shady patio and watched the wedding reception going on nearby while enjoying a beautiful evening.  Salmon at Larkin's on the River - Greenville SC

Our waitress, Hannah didn’t mind giving recommendations and explaining what hot smoked salmon was, all I can say was that it was delicious.  It was a fillet that was smoked on the grill instead of the typical grilling method and the flavor was slightly smokey.  It was served with a creamy sauce and I chose the smoked gouda mashed potatoes which were a perfect accompaniment.  Mike had a delicious sea bass. We started the meal with a caesar salad that was made table side and did not disappoint.  So now we have found another restaruant that we can’t wait to try again.
