Is there anything better than placing a tiny little cracker in a bowl of soup? These ranch oyster crackers are so simple to make and keep well, which means you can have them on hand for whenever you need a savory snack or topping for chili.

    Old Fashioned Seasoned Oyster Crackers

Simple to make, these seasoned crackers are a southern classic. The zesty flavor of ranch dressing bakes right into the crackers thanks to a little oil and low heat. Then you can snack on them by the handful or add them to your favorite soups and chilies.

Oyster crackers get their name from their funky shape—which, you guessed it—is shaped like the little sea creature. Originally created in New Jersey back in the 1840’s, they also get their name from commonly being added to seafood based soups like oyster stew and clam chowder. What I love about these tasty crackers is that they add just the right amount of crunch to soups or snack mixes.

This easy seasoned oyster cracker recipe takes just 15-20 minutes to turn into golden brown bites of heaven. You can freeze them for next time or keep them in an airtight container in the pantry. They’re perfect for school lunches, game day spreads, or they could be a great gift for any of your foodie friends. I know I love when someone gives me something homemade!

Unlike seasoned fire crackers, these are not spicy.

For other yummy and delicious snack recipes, try my Swiss cheese crackers and bold chex mix. They’re some of my favorite ways to use up pantry staple ingredients!

    Who Doesn’t Love Homemade Snacks?

    • Peace of Mind – Making these at home means you know exactly how much and which ingredients are in your food.
    • Hungry Kids – Having plenty of snacks on hand is a must!
    • Simple and Easy – Since we’re basically just adding extra seasoning and cooking on low heat, this recipe is basically foolproof!

    Just a Couple of Ingredients

The ingredients for seasoned oyster crackers.
    Gather the ingredients.

Crackers – At least one 8 ounce bag of oyster crackers.

Oil – I used canola oil, but you can use olive oil or vegetable oil if you prefer. I would stick with as neutral a flavor as possible.

Seasoning – Dry Ranch dressing, dried dill, garlic powder, pepper.

    What’s In Ranch Seasoning Mix?

Created back in 1949, Ranch dressing has become one of America’s most beloved condiments! It’s made with onion powder, onion flakes, dill, parsley, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and dried chives. The combination is unique and delicious.

How To Make This Ranch Oyster Cracker Recipe

Other Ways To Season Oyster Crackers

    • Turn snack time into a fiesta with taco seasoning!
    • Give the spicy citrusy flavor of lemon pepper a try.
    • Add red pepper flakes and a dusting of parmesan cheese to this recipe for spicy ranch crackers.
    • Try cajun seasoning instead.

How to Store Ranch Oyster Crackers

On The Counter: Store in an airtight container and eat them until you’ve run out!

In The Freezer: Store these in an airtight container or bag for months!
