    Great Food in Greenville SC

For those who might be coming to FURMAN for accepted students day in the next few weeks, or just visiting Greenville, I thought I would feature some restaurants that we have tried during our recent visits. There are so many to choose from and so far, we have not been disappointed.

Sobys is right across from The Westin, and one block from The Courtyard Marriott, on Main Street. The vibe is fun and energetic, with all types of people. Tourists, and concert goers were plentiful on the night we were there as it is very close to The Peace Center for Performing Arts. There is outdoor seating, but the indoor dining space is great with huge ceilings and windows high above the seating area letting in light. I’m not sure what was in the space originally, but they have done a marvelous job converting it. Dress is casual.

I have been here twice and our wait staff both times were great; engaging and knowledgable about the food and Greenville in general.  People are serious about food in Greenville.  They gave recommendations and explained how things were prepared and where the ingredients were from.crab cakes

Both times we tried the pimento cheese dip, this time it was adorned with purple carrots.  Another signature dish, crab cakes, were almost all crab meat,  and sautéed perfectly. The salmon was equally good.salmon

There were several larger groups the night we went and they didn’t seem to have any trouble accommodating them. If Natalie chooses Furman, we will definitely be back.
