Brunch at 1618 Seafood Grille – Greensboro NC

    Brunch at 1618 Seafood Grill

Everyone knows how great 1618 is for dinner, so I won’t elaborate too much.  If you live in Greensboro and haven’t been you are missing out on a fantastic dining experience.  If you are visiting, you won’t be disappointed.  Their menu changes periodically so there is always something new to try.  Don’t stick just to the seafood.  Surprisingly the non-seafood dishes are just as interesting, making your choices even more difficult. Sometimes we will just go tapas style and order a couple of appetizers.  The staff is also great about suggesting a new or different wine to try. We have left with a case, as you can purchase it there at very reasonable prices.  But enough about their dinner menu, I want to talk about brunch.

They started serving brunch a few months ago on Sunday’s and we just haven’t had a chance to get over there until today.  I had been cooking all week with the holiday and this seemed like a nice treat especially with both girls home.  It takes a lot to impress me for brunch. I want to see something other than eggs and bacon.  This menu had so much variety, there were about 5 things that I wanted to try.  I was so indecisive we had to send the waitress away while I pondered.  Then after getting more details, I ordered  the sweet potato biscuit with pork tenderloin and caramelized onion, spinach and poached egg and chose as a side, the sweet potato and bacon hash. They were both great, but the sweet potato and bacon hash was to die for.   We all got something different, and I’m not sure whose was the best, all claiming ours to be the winner. The omelet was so fluffy and the burger was awesome with Kobe beef.  Tay decided to just get sides, and I wanted to bring her leftover grits home they were so creamy.

I can’t wait to go back and try one of the seafood options or the fried chicken and waffles.  So many choices, so few Sundays! Thanks Nick for adding a new Sunday brunch place to our list.

If you are looking for wine and appetizers one night, try out 1618 Wine Lounge on Lawndale.  They added a kitchen this summer so now they can offer so many great appetizers.
