    Stepping back in time for a little kitchen experiment, I tried cooking like it was the 1950s and quickly realized why so many of those dishes became staples. From cozy casseroles to retro desserts, a lot of the flavors still feel surprisingly comforting today. Some recipes definitely show their age, but a handful still deserve a spot at the table even now.
