    Mission Pizza – Winston-Salem, NC

    appetizer at Mission Pizza

I haven’t added any new restaurants in Winston-Salem for a while, so when Mike heard about this new pizza place that was supposed to be as good as those in Italy, we had to try it.  Who would know more about Italian pizza then our traveling college student.  After living in Rome for a month she is our resident expert.  Just down from Sweet Potatoes on Trade Street, the location is perfect. There is plenty of parking close by.  We went early on a Saturday night after moving Taylor into her dorm.  We started with an appetizer of fried pizza dough drizzled with red sauce, they also drizzle it with cinnamon and sugar for dessert. Barbara and Taylor at Mission PizzaThey were great and not greasy at all.  We tried three completely different pizzas, the first was a basic margarita pizza which Taylor claims was just as good as those in Rome.  The sauce was flavorful, and the crust was perfect, not too thick but sturdy enough to hold the toppings.

The owner came over to our table to chat and he and Taylor had fun talking about pizza in Rome.

If you get an appetizer or salad, you could share a pizza, otherwise they are just about right for one person.Taylor at Mission Pizza
