Sidewall Pizza is a hidden gem just minutes from Furman where you’ll find brick oven pizza with interesting toppings |butterandbaggage.comOver the three years that we’ve been visiting Natalie at Furman, we normally eat in downtown Greenville and forget about Travelers Rest which is much closer to Furman’s campus.  While visiting for a girls weekend this summer, we decided to try one of Natalie’s favorite pizza places in the quaint town of Travelers Rest.  It was a beautiful day and we were lucky enough to snag the end of a community table outdoors.  They have lots of craft beers and ciders, I tried a peach cider, Jack’s Hard Cider which is my new favorite.

We were pretty hungry so the three of us ordered two pizzas which would have been fine, but I saw the breadsticks go by after we ordered and just had to try them, so glad we did!

They are more than willing to do different toppings on each half so we went with ½ meatball and ½ spicy Italian on one of them and for the second pizza, we went with the special which had broccoli, corn and bacon.  They have a brick oven and everything is made in-house. The crust was amazing, thin and crispy.  All the toppings were delicious but my favorite was the spicy Italian.

So are eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but who doesn’t love leftover pizza. We couldn’t even think about dessert, but I’ve heard the homemade ice cream is to die for.  Maybe next time.
